Royal Flying Doctor Service

The Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) has a number of medical services available to remote West and Northern Queensland, including aeromedical retrievals, GP and nurse clinics, an oral health program, and inter-hospital transfers. Visit the RFDS website for more information

Flora and Fauna

Remote North Queensland is home to an array of flora and fauna unique to the tropical and desert environment. Fauna ranging from crocodiles, deadly snakes, box jellyfish are a prevalent part of day to day life in the remote areas of QLD. Emergency Services

The 1st November to 30th April is cyclone season in North Queensland and with this there is also an increase in rainfall in the West and Far North of the state. As such, many areas are subject to flooding. In such events as cyclones and flooding/severe storms, it is best to be well prepared and informed. You can do this by visiting the following websites:

Post Offices

There is no is door to door mail service in Weipa or Thursday Island and members will need to arrange a post office box with Australia Post. This can be done at any Australia Post Office.
