There are a range of public and private schooling available in Remote Queensland. For the options available in Mount Isa, Weipa, Thursday Island, Tully and Mission Beach please refer to the following information.

    Childcare

    There are a number of child care facilities in in Mount Isa but childcare facilities in Weipa, Thursday Island, Tully and Mission Beach are limited. There is a wait list for most services. The resources below may help you locate the right childcare service for your family.

    Defence Community Organisation (DCO) has a range of programs to support the availability of childcare services to Defence families, who might face difficulties in sourcing childcare.


    Defence families facing difficulties accessing childcare, such as when they move to a new area or change their work or care arrangements, can now also access an individual case management service to help them find childcare.
